All in a Decade

The Professional Employees Council will hold its 10th annual Fall Constituency Luncheon in the Old Union Hall of the University Union at noon on the 14th of November.  This event provides PEC an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions our constituents make to Binghamton University.   During this luncheon two constituents will receive certificates and a monetary award acknowledging their particular contributions.

The recipients of these annual acknowledgements are selected from nominations provided by the constituency.  There are two categories: employees with more than five years of service and employees with less than five years of service.  The only other requirement is outstanding support to the University.  Once the nominations are complete a committee consisting of a PEC member from each division reviews the list and the selections are made.

In addition to their names being engraved on a wall plaque that hangs in the lobby of the Couper Administration building the awardees are presented tokens of appreciation that include a framed certificate signed by the current Chair of PEC and a monetary award.

The money for these awards began with an anonymous donation to PEC with the charge to use the funds to recognize professionals’ contributions to the University.  Through the years additional contributions have been made to this effort which has allowed PEC to continue and expand the program.

Additionally, the Office of the President, the Research Foundation and United University Professions have generously provided support by underwriting a portion of the costs of the luncheon.  This invaluable support has allowed PEC to keep attendee costs to a minimum.

For those professionals wishing to attend, please RSVP by Nov 1st to Sharon Santobuono and then join the lunchtime festivities honoring this years awardees, Cynthia Altmansberger and Thomas Hanford.  Hope to see you there.
